GLEANERS
A member of our church, who knew of an unaddressed need, organized Gleaners of South Lake County.  With the combined efforts of Zion UCC, Holy Name Catholic Church, and the Cedar Lake Methodist Church, the need of providing clothes for people who had problems affording this necessity was addressed.  A non-proit resale store, opened its doors in November, 1982, selling adult and children's clothing, books, kitchen items and knicknacks.  All proceeds go to three non-profit organizations in the community.  Gleaners is always looking for clean, gently used or new items to offer to the public.

PROJECT LOVE
Zion United Church of Christ helps support the food pantry located at Cedar Lake Methodist Church.  We offer financial support as well as food drives at different events.

Part of our Mission is Ecumenical:
We join with three other churches (Holy Name Catholic Church in Cedar Lake, Cedar Lake Methodist, and St. Michael The Archangel) and have 4 Ecumical Services each year.  Offerning for each service go to Project Love.
